” Freedom isn’t free!”

I was not even close to being born around this time, but my great grandparents were. One of the Canadian Land Battles in second World War was on, June.6ht, 1944 6:30am. American, British, and Canadian troops attacked the French coastline of Normandy. The beaches were code-named: Sword, Juno, Utah, Gold, and Ohama. Most of the soldiers had sacrificed there lives for us Canadians! They were very violent!
A lot of these battles were sad and many lives were lost. I thank all of those soldiers for helping our country. On September 21, the First Canadian Army’s divisions moved northward roughly along the line of the Ghent-Terneuzen Canal. I hope when I am in-between the age of 16-18 that I’ll be able to serve my country too. My dad said that would be a good choice. My dad is really into this kind of stuff because he knows how this is like. My mom on the other hand isn’t so sure if this is a good idea. My mom isn’t into this kind of stuff. But I am.
My great-grandmother told me about this battle she said that this was very scary, but she had lived trough it. British officers decided that the Canadians needed to attack the main land so they can advance. The Canadians attacked with 5000 soldiers. The attack began on August 19, 1942. Some people say that the Canadians lost before they hit the beach. Around the beach they were secured with pill boxes, howitzers, and mortars. I hope that these kind of battles will never come again. If they do I will be delightful to stand in front of our troops.
My great-grandfather fought in battles. My great-grandmother always prayed for him to come back safely, and he did. I really miss my great-grandfather. Once the second World War was over, great-grandpa came home and my great-grandpa and great-grandma had four children. There names were Wayne, Joan, Robert, and Brian. 19 years ago Joan had passed away from Cancer. A couple of years after that my great-grandfather had died. My great grandma is 91 years old. I visit her regularly. I hope she is still living when she is 100 years old! She has nine years to go. I love my great-grandmother, and I’ll never forget her. My great-grandmother has over 32 grand children and great-grandchildren. She will have one more great-grandchild in a couple of months. Hopefully she will have a great- great-grandchild soon!
“If you don’t stand in front of our troops feel free to stand in front of them!”
