Canadian Land Battles WW2.

” Freedom isn’t free!”

I was not even close to being born around this time, but my  great grandparents were. One of the Canadian Land Battles in second World War was on, June.6ht, 1944 6:30am. American, British, and Canadian troops attacked the French coastline of Normandy. The beaches were code-named: Sword, Juno, Utah, Gold, and Ohama. Most of the soldiers had sacrificed there lives for us Canadians! They were very violent!

A lot of these battles were sad and many lives were lost. I thank all of those soldiers for helping our country. On September 21, the First Canadian Army’s divisions moved northward roughly along the line of the Ghent-Terneuzen Canal. I hope when I am in-between the age of 16-18 that I’ll be able to serve my country too. My dad said that would be a good choice. My dad is really into this kind of stuff because he knows how this is like. My mom on the other hand isn’t so sure if this is a good idea. My mom isn’t into this kind of stuff. But I am.

My great-grandmother told me about this battle she said that this was very scary, but she had lived trough it. British officers decided that the Canadians needed to attack the main land so they can advance. The Canadians attacked with 5000 soldiers. The attack began on August 19, 1942. Some people say that the Canadians lost before they hit the beach. Around the beach they were secured with pill boxes, howitzers, and mortars. I hope that these kind of battles will never come again. If they do I will be delightful to stand in front of our troops.

My great-grandfather fought in battles. My great-grandmother always prayed for him to come back safely, and he did. I really miss my great-grandfather. Once the second World War was over, great-grandpa came home and my great-grandpa and great-grandma had four children. There names were Wayne, Joan, Robert, and Brian. 19 years ago Joan had passed away from Cancer. A couple of years after that my great-grandfather had died. My great grandma is 91 years old. I visit her regularly. I hope she is still living when she is 100 years old! She has nine years to go. I love my great-grandmother, and I’ll never forget her. My great-grandmother has over 32 grand children and great-grandchildren. She will have one more great-grandchild in a couple of months. Hopefully she will have a great- great-grandchild soon!

“If you don’t stand in front of our troops feel free to stand in front     of them!”

“Lest we forget”

What the web means to me.

The web to me is about music, global, e-mailing and school.

It means music to me because I really enjoy listening to music.  I like any kind of music except opera and jazz.  I play instruments too.  My mom is really into music too and she is in a band.  My mom and her sister are both musical.  Her sister is in her band.  My mom plays a lot of instruments;  you name it and she will probably be able to play it. My brother is 6 and my sister is nine. They both play piano and drums.  I have been playing piano for 6 or 7 years now. My dad doesn’t really play any instruments.  He does have a banjo.  We have all of these instruments: an acoustic and an electric guitar, a piano, harmonicas, ukulele, microphones, drums, maracas, and a banjo.

The web also means global to me because, we can check out all of the flags and anthems from all over the world.  We can read a newspaper or listen to the international news on computers.  We can also find a lot of information on a continent, or city. I really enjoy looking up information or pictures of places all over the world.

The web really means e-mailing to me.  That’s important to me because that is how I keep in touch with friends and family all over the world.  I really enjoy talking with friends and family.  There is a lot of funny stories and videos that they send me.  Some is about what happened to them or a friend.  Some of the videos are hilarious!

The last thing that is important to me about the web is school.  In class we spend most of our time on computers.  Sometimes that is not a good thing, we spend more time on the web in a day then we do math in a day! Sometimes we do not even do math.  But today we did quite a bit of math! So that is good!  Math in grade seven is not that hard.  But sometimes it is.

For my project I had a shoe box.  I painted every single wall on that box. I had a school called Wingham School, and J.H.Kerr School. There is envelopes on an orange string connected to the two schools.  This represents e-mail.  There is a globe in the very back of the box with a black background with colored stars on it.  There is also musical notes all over the box, as well as some blue laptops.

Riding….

Horseback! Riding horseback is really fun! Esspecially when I vault and barrel race. My sister is always worried about me when I am around horses because, I’ll be walking 17 horses at a time and there like 4 times bigger then me. My dad thought when I went to riding school that the horses would just be following the horse in front of them. But no. When my family came to the wind up a horse came galloping out in a circle. Then here I came out. I ran and jumped on the horse. Then I was doing summer salts and flips, and doing different jumps jumping on and off of her. It was funny because you could see my dads eyes just widen!

Tuesday Sept. 21st, 2010.

Hey! Another day at school. Yesterday we had another Skype call with Wingham. We had talked about how to comment  on each others blog, and what a good comment is. A boy in my class was being very silly while he  was talking to the students in Wingham! He was talking really loud, and waving very proudly! I don’t know why. Joan and I were walking down town to pick up Brady, Austin, and Kade. It was raining like crazy! We had a lululemon sweater on with a winter coat on top, and the rain went right through or jackets! While we were walking down a car had splashed us! It was cold and funny at the same time!
